Route 28 towards Hunter & Windham

In contrast to Harriman State Park, where all the action is in the summer, on these roads, all the action is in the winter, as skiiers go up to Hunter, or Windham, and the local Troopers and Ulster County Sheriffs are waiting. Getting off exit 19, in Kingston, the speed limits on Route 28 are 45 and 55 miles per hour, and as the road is only a few undivided lanes, enforcement is serious and varied, from oncoming moving mode radar to stationary radar or laser from one of the parking lots. Cars full of affluent folks who don’t live in the area are a target rich environment for traffic law enforcement.
